This article analyzes the main drivers of global food shortages, the growing number of hungry people worldwide due to political, environmental, and economic factors, the country's food supply from domestic production, as well as the level of imports and exports, household food security, and the share of household consumer spending on food. The article also presents a number of proposals for further improving the country's agricultural sector.
