The paper analyzes the evolution of Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks, from early demonstrations to modern multi-layered threats driven by IoT botnets and cloud services. It highlights the exponential growth in attack power and the increasing complexity of their structure. A hybrid forecasting model is introduced, combining logistic dynamics with Markov chains to capture both quantitative escalation and probabilistic transitions between attack types. The practical contribution lies in recommendations for adaptive defense systems based on machine learning and fuzzy logic, aimed at ensuring resilience of digital infrastructure under escalating cyber threats.
