This paper presents the results of a numerical study of laser ablation under the influence of a continuous laser source and pulses with a complex temporal structure, defined by the source function. The laser intensity is introduced into the thermal conductivity equation as the product of two functions defining the temporal and spatial dependences of the effect on the sample, which may alter the structure of the source. This allowed numerical modeling to establish the difference in the impact of the source shape on the ablation process, while maintaining the same laser energy fluence. It was found that in the presence of a pulsed component in the continuous-wave laser radiation, the laser ablation process exits a steady state and returns to it after a certain time interval.
